Esquire Tavern is Proud to be One of the James Beard Nominees
The awards for each category are given to professionals who keep American Culture close to their hearts, regardless of which culinary profession the business or person represents. This year, The Esquire Tavern was featured on the list of James Beard Nominees for the category “Outstanding Bar Program.” This may come as no surprise to our patrons, who have been enjoying the Esquire Tavern’s historical building and lovingly crafted American foods and beverages for ages. Here’s a bit of information for newcomers on the award itself and the honor we feel about being nominated.
About the Foundation
The organization itself honors James Beard – a cookbook author and teacher of chefs. The foundation doesn’t only recognize individual chefs, however. They are dedicated to the whole gambit of culinary professionals, with James Beard nominees ranging from food magazine authors and architects to chefs and cocktail makers. They are based out of New York and operate in the historic James Beard House.
What is this award?
The James Beard Awards are given to restaurants, bars, and individuals who “celebrate, preserve, and nurture America’s culinary heritage and diversity.” Each category is decided by a group of professionals who volunteer their time to choose James Beard nominees from each category. While there is no monetary reward for winners, a certificate is given to each winner. The Esquire Tavern’s nomination for Outstanding Bar Program means that someone on the committee noticed our historical adherence and our contribution to culinary culture through the art of the cocktail.
Even though we didn’t win this year, The Esquire Tavern is proud to have been one of the James Beard nominees. Our bar program really is outstanding! Stop by for a hearty tipple sometime and experience our dedication to American culinary culture.
